A 40-year-old Lubbock woman has died from injuries she suffered after falling from the side of a moving semi-truck cab in east Lubbock on Monday night, October 26, 2026.

Police identified the woman as Rosalinda Gonzalez.

Lubbock police initially reported that officers responded at approximately 9:07 p.m. to the 1300 block of East Rice Street, near Magnolia Avenue, after receiving a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a semi-truck.

Gonzalez suffered serious injuries and was transported to University Medical Center. A subsequent report states that she later died from those injuries.

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating.

What Happened in the East Lubbock Semi-Truck Crash?

According to the preliminary police investigation, Gonzalez was holding onto the outside of the cab of a semi-truck driven by 35-year-old Lloyd King.

Police said the truck was traveling south on North Oak Avenue. As the semi turned west onto East Rice Street, Gonzalez reportedly fell from the vehicle.

Authorities have not publicly explained why Gonzalez was on the outside of the truck before she fell.

The circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation.

Why This Semi-Truck Fatality Requires Further Investigation

This is not a typical pedestrian-versus-truck collision.

Because police say Gonzalez was holding onto the exterior of the truck immediately before she fell, investigators may need to determine how she came to be in that position, whether the truck driver knew she was there, and what occurred before the truck began moving or turning.

Potential issues may include:

  • What happened immediately before the semi began moving

  • Whether the driver knew Gonzalez was holding onto the truck

  • How long she had been on the exterior of the cab

  • The truck’s speed before and during the turn

  • Statements from the driver and witnesses

  • Surveillance or dash-camera footage

  • Communications involving the driver before the incident

  • Whether other people witnessed what happened

No final determination of responsibility has been publicly announced.

Video Evidence Could Be Especially Important

Because this incident occurred near an intersection in east Lubbock, investigators may look for surveillance footage from nearby businesses, residences, traffic cameras, or other vehicles.

Video could help establish when Gonzalez approached the semi, how she came to be holding onto the cab, when the truck began moving, and the circumstances of her fall.

Potential evidence may include:

  • Commercial-truck dash-camera footage

  • Nearby surveillance video

  • Traffic-camera footage

  • GPS and telematics records

  • Electronic truck data

  • Witness cellphone video

  • Police body-camera footage

  • Statements from the truck driver and other witnesses

Some video and electronic evidence can be overwritten with time, making preservation important after a serious commercial vehicle incident.

Commercial Truck Records May Also Matter

Once a semi-truck is involved in a fatal incident, the motor carrier may possess records relevant to the investigation.

Depending on the circumstances, those records may include driver qualification information, dispatch communications, GPS data, electronic logging-device records, company policies, and other documents concerning operation of the truck.

Whether any of those records ultimately bear on this incident will depend on what investigators determine.

Wrongful Death Claims After a Texas Commercial Truck Incident

When someone dies in an incident involving a commercial vehicle, certain surviving family members may have rights under Texas wrongful-death law if the evidence establishes that another person or company’s wrongful conduct contributed to the death.

A wrongful-death investigation may examine not only the truck driver’s actions but also whether a trucking company or another party had responsibility for the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Depending on the evidence, damages available under Texas law may include losses associated with financial support, companionship, mental anguish, and other legally recoverable damages.

A separate survival claim may also exist depending on the circumstances.

The fact that a commercial truck was involved does not by itself establish liability.

How a Texas Truck Wreck Lawyer Can Investigate a Fatal Semi-Truck Incident

A commercial truck case may require prompt preservation of electronic and company evidence.

A Dallas truck accident lawyer handling a Texas truck case may seek available video, electronic truck data, GPS records, dispatch communications, witness statements, police investigative materials, and information identifying the motor carrier and its insurance coverage.

An independent investigation may also help answer questions that are not resolved by the initial police report.

18-Wheeler Crash Causes Fuel Spill on Loop 410 Near New Sulphur Springs Road in San Antonio

An 18-wheeler crash on Loop 410 near New Sulphur Springs Road on San Antonio’s Southeast Side caused a fuel spill and significant traffic problems Thursday, October 29, 2026. Emergency crews responded to the commercial truck wreck while authorities worked to contain and clean up the spilled fuel. The collision affected traffic in the area near Loop 410 and New Sulphur Springs Road, a heavily traveled corridor on the Southeast Side. Additional details about possible injuries and what caused the 18-wheeler to crash have not yet been released. What Happened in the Loop 410 18-Wheeler Crash? The wreck occurred near Loop 410 and New Sulphur Springs Road in San Antonio. Initial reporting indicates that the commercial truck crashed and spilled fuel onto or near the roadway, requiring an emergency cleanup response. Fuel spills can extend the time needed to reopen lanes because responders may need to contain the diesel, remove contaminated material, inspect the roadway, and safely recover the tractor-trailer. At this time, investigators have not publicly determined what caused the crash. Why a Fuel-Spill Truck Crash Requires a Detailed Investigation An 18-wheeler crash involving a diesel spill can raise questions about both the collision and the condition of the commercial vehicle. Depending on the circumstances, investigators may examine: The truck’s speed before the crash Driver steering and braking Driver distraction or fatigue Tire and brake condition Tractor and trailer maintenance Fuel-tank damage Whether another vehicle contributed Roadway and weather conditions Cargo weight and distribution None of these factors has been established as the cause of this particular wreck. Electronic Truck Evidence May Help Explain the Crash Commercial trucks often contain electronic information that can help reconstruct what happened. Potentially important evidence may include: Electronic control module data GPS and telematics information Dash-camera footage Electronic logging-device records Driver hours-of-service information Dispatch communications Maintenance and inspection records Post-crash mechanical inspections This information may help determine the truck’s speed, braking, movements, and operation immediately before impact. Fuel Spills Can Create Additional Hazards A commercial truck fuel spill can create risks beyond the collision itself. Diesel or other vehicle fluids may make pavement slippery, create fire concerns, require environmental cleanup, and lead to prolonged road closures. Investigators may also document damage to the truck’s fuel tanks and determine how the spill occurred. Who May Be Responsible After a San Antonio 18-Wheeler Wreck? Responsibility in a commercial truck crash can extend beyond the individual driver. Depending on what the investigation shows, potentially responsible parties may include the truck driver, motor carrier, tractor or trailer owner, maintenance company, cargo company, or another motorist. No determination of responsibility has been made in this crash. How a Texas Truck Wreck Lawyer Can Help A Dallas truck accident lawyer handling a Texas commercial truck case can work to preserve evidence before it disappears. Depending on the circumstances, that investigation may include obtaining electronic truck data, identifying the motor carrier, reviewing driver and maintenance records, requesting dash-camera footage, inspecting the tractor and trailer, locating witnesses, and identifying commercial insurance coverage. Passenger Car Trapped Under 18-Wheeler in I-30 Crash at Zion Road in Garland

A serious 18-wheeler wreck on eastbound Interstate 30 at Zion Road in Garland caused major traffic delays Wednesday afternoon, October 28, 2026. The collision was reported at approximately 12:40 p.m. A passenger car was trapped underneath the 18-wheeler, and traffic information indicated that only the left eastbound lane remained open while emergency crews responded. Zion Road intersects I-30 in Garland. Additional information about injuries and the circumstances leading to the crash has not yet been released. What Happened in the I-30 18-Wheeler Crash at Zion Road? The wreck occurred on eastbound I-30 near Zion Road. A passenger vehicle became trapped underneath the tractor-trailer following the collision. Most of the eastbound roadway was blocked, leaving only one lane open. At this time, it is not known how the crash occurred or whether anyone was transported to a hospital. Because this is a developing incident, no conclusions should be drawn about fault until investigators determine what happened. Why an Underride-Type 18-Wheeler Crash Can Be Especially Dangerous When a passenger vehicle becomes trapped beneath a tractor-trailer, the size and height difference between the vehicles can create a particularly dangerous crash mechanism. Investigators may need to determine: Which part of the tractor-trailer the passenger vehicle contacted The speed of both vehicles before impact Whether either vehicle changed lanes before the collision Whether the truck was braking or slowing The positions of both vehicles before impact Whether lighting, reflective equipment, or underride protection played a role Whether another vehicle contributed to the wreck The available information does not yet establish how the passenger car became trapped beneath the 18-wheeler. Commercial Truck Evidence May Be Critical An 18-wheeler crash can involve electronic and company evidence that does not usually exist in an ordinary car accident. Potential evidence may include: Electronic control module data Dash-camera footage GPS and telematics records Driver logs and electronic logging-device data Dispatch communications Tractor and trailer inspection records Brake and tire maintenance records Driver qualification and training records Cargo information Post-crash vehicle inspections Crash-scene photographs and measurements may be particularly important when one vehicle ends up underneath a tractor-trailer because they can help establish the location and angle of impact. Who May Be Responsible After an I-30 Truck Wreck? Responsibility in a commercial truck collision can extend beyond the truck driver. Depending on what the investigation shows, potentially responsible parties may include the driver, motor carrier, tractor or trailer owner, maintenance contractor, cargo company, or another motorist. No determination of responsibility has been made in this crash. Why Trucking Evidence Should Be Preserved Quickly Some commercial trucking evidence can be overwritten or lost with time. A preservation investigation may focus on onboard video, electronic vehicle data, GPS records, driver logs, dispatch messages, maintenance documents, and the physical tractor and trailer. If the truck or trailer is repaired before it can be properly inspected, important evidence about the impact may also be lost. How a Dallas Truck Wreck Lawyer Can Help A Dallas truck accident lawyer can investigate a serious I-30 commercial vehicle crash and work to preserve trucking evidence. Depending on the facts, that investigation may include identifying the motor carrier, inspecting the tractor and trailer, obtaining electronic truck data, requesting dash-camera footage, reviewing driver and maintenance records, locating witnesses, and identifying applicable commercial insurance coverage.
