Nine people were taken to hospitals after a major multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 20 in Kaufman County, according to NBCDFW. Authorities said the chain-reaction crash happened Saturday on westbound I-20 and involved multiple passenger vehicles and several 18-wheelers. The Elmo Fire Department reported that firefighters were first dispatched around 10:50 a.m. to a minor crash near the westbound 509 and 510 mile markers. Minutes later, crews were called to a much larger crash near mile marker 511. Officials said 13 passenger vehicles and four 18-wheelers were involved, 24 patients were evaluated at the scene, and nine people were transported to area hospitals with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. The Texas Department of Public Safety later reported that a minor crash caused traffic to stop on westbound I-20. DPS said several drivers were traveling at unsafe speeds in rainy conditions and left the roadway while trying to avoid stopped traffic. According to investigators, a truck-tractor semi-trailer failed to control its speed and hit the rear of several stopped vehicles, triggering a chain reaction involving numerous other vehicles. DPS estimated that approximately 20 vehicles may have been involved. Multi-vehicle pileups on Texas highways can be legally and factually complex. When passenger vehicles and 18-wheelers are involved, investigators must determine who caused the initial hazard, who failed to slow down, whether any driver was following too closely, whether commercial drivers adjusted for wet road conditions, and whether trucking companies followed safety rules. Rainy weather does not excuse unsafe driving. Drivers, especially commercial truck drivers, must control their speed and keep enough distance to stop safely. A serious I-20 pileup may require a detailed investigation into crash reports, witness statements, dash camera footage, black box data, truck driver logs, braking data, cargo records, maintenance history, cell phone records, and roadway conditions. In a chain-reaction crash, more than one driver or company may share responsibility for the injuries caused. Victims injured in a multi-vehicle wreck may face medical bills, missed work, pain, vehicle damage, and insurance disputes involving several different companies. Insurance carriers may try to shift blame from one driver to another, making it important to identify all responsible parties and preserve evidence quickly. Major 18-Wheeler Crash Causes Backup on U.S. 67 at I-35E
A major collision involving an 18-wheeler caused a significant traffic backup on May 21, 2025, near the interchange of U.S. 67 and northbound I-35E. According to early reports, the crash involved a commercial truck and created heavy congestion as traffic slowed through the area. Officials had not immediately released details about injuries, the number of vehicles involved, or what caused the crash. Major truck crashes at highway interchanges can create serious hazards for drivers because of merging traffic, lane changes, limited reaction time, and the size and weight of commercial vehicles. Crashes involving 18-wheelers require a thorough investigation. A Texas truck accident lawyer can review whether driver fatigue, distraction, unsafe lane changes, following distance, speed, brake failure, tire failure, cargo issues, roadway design, or trucking company safety practices contributed to the collision. Truck accident evidence can disappear quickly. Black box data, driver logs, electronic logging records, inspection reports, maintenance records, dashcam footage, vehicle damage, roadway debris, crash scene photos, witness statements, police reports, and crash reconstruction evidence may all be critical to determining what happened and who may be responsible. If you or your loved one was injured in a Dallas 18-wheeler accident, U.S. 67 crash, I-35E truck collision, or Texas highway interchange wreck, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, future care needs, property damage, and other damages. 18-Wheeler Driver Killed in Rollover Crash Near Howe in Grayson County
An 18-wheeler driver was killed Monday afternoon, June 1, 2026, after a rollover crash on a Grayson County road near Howe. According to KXII, the crash happened on FM 902 near Bradshaw Road. Southmayd Police said the 18-wheeler left the roadway and overturned. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved, and the cause of the crash remained under investigation. The roadway was closed for approximately three and a half hours before reopening. Fatal 18-wheeler rollover crashes require a careful investigation, even when no other vehicles are reported to be involved. Investigators may need to determine whether speed, fatigue, distraction, roadway conditions, shifting cargo, braking, mechanical failure, tire failure, steering issues, maintenance problems, or company safety practices contributed to the crash. Evidence such as truck inspection records, maintenance logs, driver qualification files, electronic logging data, dashcam footage, event data recorder information, cargo records, roadway evidence, and witness statements may be critical in determining what happened. 18-Wheeler Overturns in Upshur County Crash on Highway 271
An 18-wheeler overturned in an Upshur County crash on Friday afternoon, June 5, 2026. According to KLTV, the wreck happened around 2 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 271 and FM 726 and involved an 18-wheeler and another vehicle. The 18-wheeler landed on its side in a ditch beside the road, and one northbound lane of Highway 271 was blocked while first responders worked the scene. East Mountain, West Mountain, Gilmer, and DPS responded, and DPS was investigating the cause of the crash. 18-wheeler rollover crashes can be especially dangerous because of the size and weight of the truck, the risk of cargo shifts, and the possibility of secondary crashes while lanes are blocked. Investigators may need to determine whether speed, braking, driver fatigue, distraction, roadway conditions, turning movements, load balance, truck maintenance, tire failure, or company safety practices contributed to the wreck. If you were injured in an Upshur County 18-wheeler crash, Highway 271 collision, FM 726 wreck, or serious commercial truck accident, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, mental anguish, impairment, and other damages.
