A 15-month-old girl was hospitalized with severe burns after finding a bottle of sulfuric acid inside a Tarrant County home. According to WFAA, the child was taken by air ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas after suffering burns to her abdomen and legs. The Everman Fire Department said the incident happened after the toddler found the chemical in a cabinet under the kitchen sink. Officials said a Tarrant County hazardous materials team responded after first responders learned the child had been burned by sulfuric acid. An Everman firefighter who helped remove the child from the home was also treated for inhalation of chemical fumes and later released. The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident and will determine whether any criminal charges are warranted. Chemical burn injuries involving young children require a thorough investigation. A Texas child injury lawyer can review whether sulfuric acid or another dangerous chemical was improperly stored, left unsecured, mislabeled, accessible to children, or handled in a way that created an unreasonable risk of harm. Evidence can disappear quickly after a chemical exposure incident. Chemical bottles, labels, safety data sheets, purchase records, storage conditions, photographs, medical records, emergency response reports, witness statements, 911 calls, hazmat testing, and property records may all be critical to determining what happened and who may be responsible. If your child was injured in a Tarrant County chemical burn accident, sulfuric acid exposure, hazmat incident, or Texas premises liability case, your family may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for medical expenses, burn treatment, pain and suffering, scarring, disfigurement, future care needs, and other damages. Atmos Energy Ordered to Preserve Evidence in Explosion
A judge has ordered Atmos Energy to preserve evidence connected to the deadly Oak Cliff gas explosion that killed three people and injured others, according to NBCDFW. The order came after a survivor filed court papers blaming the utility company for alleged failures leading up to the blast. The explosion happened May 28, 2026, at The Clyde apartments on East 9th Street near Patton Avenue in Oak Cliff. Dallas Fire-Rescue was responding to a reported gas leak when the building exploded and caught fire. Three people died, and at least five others were injured. According to NBCDFW, the survivor’s court filing alleges Atmos failed to repair repeated gas leaks, replace an aging plastic pipeline, and properly mark underground gas lines before drilling work was scheduled at the property. Atmos disputed parts of the filing and said it hired a professional line locator to identify the gas line before the explosion. When a judge orders evidence to be preserved after a deadly explosion, it shows how important the investigation may be. Critical evidence can include damaged gas lines, pipeline materials, maintenance records, leak reports, inspection records, line-location documents, excavation records, emergency response records, photographs, video, utility communications, and witness statements. Gas explosion cases are often complex because responsibility may involve more than one party. Investigators may need to determine whether a gas utility, construction company, drilling contractor, property owner, apartment manager, pipeline contractor, or another company failed to follow safety rules. The key questions are what caused the gas leak, who knew or should have known about the danger, whether residents were warned, and whether the explosion could have been prevented. For survivors and families, the consequences of a gas explosion can be catastrophic. Victims may suffer burns, smoke inhalation, traumatic injuries, disfigurement, permanent impairment, emotional trauma, lost wages, and the loss of their home and personal property. Families who lost loved ones may face funeral expenses, mental anguish, loss of companionship, and a lifetime of grief. Deadly apartment explosions also raise serious premises liability and public safety concerns. Tenants have the right to expect that apartment owners, utility companies, and contractors will take gas leaks seriously, warn residents about known dangers, and act quickly to prevent explosions. When warnings are missed or safety systems fail, the results can be devastating. Wooley Law Firm represents victims and families after gas explosions, apartment fires, utility accidents, construction-related disasters, catastrophic injuries, and wrongful death cases across Dallas-Fort Worth and throughout Texas. If you or your loved one was injured in a Dallas gas explosion, Oak Cliff apartment blast, utility accident, construction-related explosion, or fatal apartment fire, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, mental anguish, impairment, disfigurement, property loss, funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and other damages. Investigation Urged After Inmate Suffers Brain Bleed
A family is demanding answers after an inmate at the Tarrant County Jail suffered a serious brain bleed and was placed on life support, according to WFAA. The report comes as Tarrant County officials continue to face questions about jail conditions, inmate safety, and deaths in custody. KERA reported that the inmate, identified as 46-year-old Mack Greer, was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital after suffering internal bleeding in his brain. His family said they received a call from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office early Wednesday morning but were not given clear details about what happened before he was hospitalized. According to KERA, Greer’s family said they were told he had asked for a blanket and was later found slumped over and unresponsive. When someone enters a jail or detention facility, that person is completely dependent on the facility for safety, medical care, monitoring, and emergency response. Serious jail injuries can raise major legal questions, including whether staff properly checked on the inmate, whether medical symptoms were recognized, whether emergency care was delayed, whether mental health needs were handled appropriately, and whether the facility followed required policies and procedures. Brain bleeds, head trauma, unexplained injuries, and medical emergencies in custody should be investigated carefully. Families deserve answers about what happened, when jail staff first noticed a problem, whether video footage exists, whether medical personnel were contacted in time, and whether any warning signs were ignored. Important evidence may include jail surveillance video, medical records, incident reports, cell check logs, officer statements, intake records, body camera footage, and communications between jail staff and medical providers. Civil rights and jail injury cases are different from ordinary personal injury claims. These cases may involve constitutional rights, jail medical care, failure to protect, deliberate indifference, negligent supervision, and wrongful death issues if the inmate does not survive. Because government entities and jail officials may be involved, strict deadlines and special notice requirements can apply. Families should not have to accept vague explanations when a loved one suffers a catastrophic injury in custody. A person does not lose the right to basic safety and medical care simply because they are in jail. When serious harm occurs behind locked doors, accountability depends on uncovering the full truth. Wooley Law Firm represents families and victims in serious injury, wrongful death, and accountability cases across Dallas-Fort Worth and throughout Texas. Our firm investigates what happened, works to preserve key evidence, and fights for families seeking justice after preventable harm. If your loved one suffered a brain injury, serious medical emergency, unexplained trauma, or death while in a Texas jail or detention facility, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of companionship, funeral expenses, and other damages.
