Six people, including two children, were killed in a fiery head-on crash in Hill County, according to NBCDFW. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the crash happened Saturday afternoon on State Highway 171 near FM 3155, between Bynum and Malone. According to DPS, a Nissan traveling northbound attempted to pass another vehicle and collided head-on with a Ford van. Two adults and two children inside the van were killed. Another child in the van was taken to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Two people in the Nissan also died. Fatal head-on crashes are among the most devastating types of wrecks on Texas roads. When a driver crosses into oncoming traffic, attempts to pass unsafely, speeds, drives distracted, or misjudges the distance needed to pass, the consequences can be catastrophic. These crashes often leave families grieving multiple losses and searching for answers about how the wreck happened and whether it could have been prevented. A deadly crash like this should be carefully investigated. Key evidence may include the DPS crash report, witness statements, vehicle damage, roadway markings, skid marks, event data recorders, phone records, toxicology results, and any available surveillance or dash camera footage. In cases involving multiple fatalities, it is also important to determine whether additional factors such as roadway design, visibility, speed limits, vehicle maintenance, or negligent passing contributed to the collision. For surviving family members, a fatal Texas car accident can create overwhelming emotional and financial harm. Funeral expenses, lost income, loss of companionship, mental anguish, and the pain of losing children or loved ones can change a family forever. Texas wrongful death law may allow certain surviving family members to pursue accountability when negligence causes a fatal crash. Man Killed in Fort Worth Hit-and-Run After Inspecting Car on I-35W
A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning, May 31, 2026, on southbound I-35W near East Ripy Street in Fort Worth. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, police said the man had gotten out of his vehicle after a minor crash and was checking the damage when another vehicle struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the suspect vehicle left the scene but was later found at a different location, and the investigation remained ongoing. Freeway crashes can become deadly within seconds when a disabled vehicle or minor wreck leaves someone exposed to fast-moving traffic. Investigators may need to determine whether the striking driver was speeding, distracted, impaired, failed to keep a proper lookout, or had enough time and distance to avoid the man. Evidence such as dashcam footage, traffic cameras, nearby surveillance video, vehicle damage, debris patterns, lighting conditions, 911 calls, witness statements, and event data recorder information may be critical in determining what happened. If you lost a loved one in a Fort Worth freeway crash, I-35W pedestrian accident, or fatal hit-and-run collision, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, mental anguish, lost financial support, and other damages.
