A 19-year-old Ellis County native and LSU student was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Friday, May 22, 2026, in Louisiana. According to CBS Texas, Louisiana State Police said the crash happened shortly after 3 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 190 near Jennings Road. Investigators said a 2005 Kenworth commercial motor vehicle was traveling west on LA-190 and began slowing near a crossover. At the same time, a 2025 Kia K4 was traveling behind the commercial vehicle and failed to slow for unknown reasons, rear-ending the truck. Police said 19-year-old Cynthia Hodge was in the Kia, was not properly restrained, and died at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing. Fatal crashes involving commercial motor vehicles require a thorough investigation, even when early reports suggest a passenger vehicle struck the rear of a truck. A Texas wrongful death lawyer can review whether truck lighting, brake lights, hazard signals, roadway layout, visibility, driver reaction time, speed, distraction, or another preventable factor contributed to the collision. Truck accident evidence can disappear quickly. Black box data, dashcam footage, commercial vehicle inspection records, maintenance records, driver logs, vehicle damage, crash scene photos, roadway measurements, witness statements, police reports, and crash reconstruction evidence may all be critical to determining what happened and who may be responsible. If your loved one was killed in a commercial vehicle crash, Ellis County wrongful death case, LSU student fatal accident, or collision involving a semi-truck or commercial motor vehicle, your family may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for funeral expenses, lost financial support, mental anguish, loss of companionship, and other damages. Florida Truck Driver Charged with Intoxication Manslaughter After Fatal West Texas Crash
A Florida truck driver has been charged with intoxication manslaughter following a fatal crash in West Texas. According to KTXS, investigators allege the commercial truck driver was intoxicated at the time of the collision that resulted in a fatality. Authorities arrested the driver, and the case remains under investigation as officials continue gathering evidence surrounding the crash. When an 18-wheeler driver is suspected of operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the consequences can be catastrophic. Commercial truck drivers are held to stricter standards than ordinary motorists, and both criminal and civil investigations may follow a serious crash. Investigators may need to review toxicology results, driver logs, electronic logging device data, dashcam footage, witness statements, maintenance records, company hiring and supervision practices, crash scene measurements, and event data from the truck. In some cases, liability may extend beyond the driver to the trucking company or other responsible parties. If you lost a loved one in a West Texas truck accident, drunk-driving crash, 18-wheeler collision, or fatal commercial vehicle wreck, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, mental anguish, lost financial support, and other damages. If you were injured, you may also have the right to pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, impairment, disfigurement, and other damages. Overturned Tanker Truck Shuts Down Lanes on I-635 Near I-20 in Balch Springs
An overturned tanker truck was reported around 7:17 a.m. on June 16, 2026, on northbound Interstate 635 at Interstate 20 in Balch Springs. Emergency crews responded to the scene after the tanker overturned, creating significant traffic disruptions during the morning commute. Early reports did not indicate whether other vehicles were involved or whether any injuries were reported, but incidents involving tanker trucks often require extensive emergency response efforts because of the potential for fuel spills, hazardous materials, and roadway closures. Tanker truck rollovers can occur for many reasons, including excessive speed, shifting cargo, mechanical failures, tire blowouts, driver fatigue, distraction, impairment, or roadway design issues. Because tanker trucks carry liquid cargo that can shift during travel, rollover crashes often require specialized investigations. Evidence such as driver logs, maintenance records, cargo loading documentation, electronic logging device data, crash scene measurements, witness statements, dashcam footage, and event data recorder information may be critical in determining what caused the incident. If you were injured in a Balch Springs truck accident, tanker truck rollover, I-635 crash, I-20 collision, or serious commercial vehicle wreck, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, mental anguish, impairment, disfigurement, and other damages. If a loved one was seriously injured or killed, your family may also have legal rights under Texas law. Call (214) 699-6524 for a free consultation. You don’t pay unless we win.

Major 18-Wheeler Crash Reported on Northbound I-635 at Gross Road in Mesquite
A major wreck was reported on northbound Interstate 635 at Gross Road in Mesquite around 8:50 a.m. on July 6, 2026. According to TxDOT, the crash closed two right lanes and the shoulder while crews responded to the scene. The wreck appears to involve an 18-wheeler. Additional details about injuries and the cause of the crash have not yet been publicly released. Crashes involving 18-wheelers on I-635 can be extremely dangerous because of highway speeds, heavy commuter traffic, commercial vehicles, sudden slowdowns, and limited room for drivers to avoid disabled vehicles. When multiple lanes and the shoulder are closed, traffic can back up quickly and create a serious risk of secondary crashes. A Mesquite 18-wheeler crash should be investigated quickly and aggressively. Key questions may include whether the truck driver was distracted, fatigued, speeding, following too closely, failed to control speed, made an unsafe lane change, or failed to keep a proper lookout. Critical evidence may include the crash report, witness statements, dash camera footage, TxDOT camera information, nearby surveillance video, 18-wheeler black box data, driver logs, inspection records, maintenance files, cell phone records, company safety records, vehicle damage, and photos or videos from the scene.
