Carbon Monoxide Leak at Terrell Nursing Home
Emergency crews responded to a carbon monoxide leak at Terrell Healthcare Center, a nursing and rehabilitation facility in Terrell, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. According to NBC 5 DFW, high carbon monoxide levels were detected at the facility in the 200 block of West Nash Street. Terrell police and fire personnel, Kaufman County EMS, CareFlite, Cedar Hill Fire Department’s AmBus, and other agencies responded to the scene. Officials later confirmed that the leak had been stopped and that there was no ongoing release of carbon monoxide. As of Tuesday evening, five patients had been transported for additional medical care. Carbon monoxide exposure can be especially dangerous in nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities because elderly residents and medically vulnerable patients may be less able to recognize symptoms or evacuate quickly. Investigators may need to determine what caused the leak, whether carbon monoxide detectors and alarms were working properly, how quickly staff responded, whether residents were promptly assessed and moved to safety, and whether maintenance, HVAC, boiler, generator, ventilation, or inspection issues contributed to the incident. If you or a loved one was injured in a Terrell nursing home incident, carbon monoxide exposure event, or long-term care facility emergency, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, impairment, disfigurement, and other damages. Call (214) 699-6524 for a free consultation. You don’t pay unless we win.
