A 20-year-old man died after a crash involving a TEXRail train in Fort Worth.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the crash happened on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in the 3800 block of North Sylvania Avenue near East Long Avenue, between the Northside and Mercantile Center TEXRail stations. Crews initially responded around 11 a.m. after a vehicle was struck by a TEXRail train.
The victim, identified as Harrison William Bradford, died after midnight Friday at John Peter Smith Hospital, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. Trinity Metro officials said rail infrastructure was damaged in the crash, causing several hours of repairs and delays to TEXRail service.
Why This Matters
Train and vehicle crashes require a thorough investigation. A Texas wrongful death lawyer can review whether crossing signals, gates, train horn use, sightlines, roadway design, train speed, driver visibility, rail infrastructure, or another preventable factor contributed to the collision.
Train crash evidence can disappear quickly. Event recorder data, crossing signal records, train camera footage, vehicle damage, crash scene photos, roadway measurements, witness statements, police reports, medical records, and rail company investigation findings may all be critical to determining what happened and who may be responsible.

Wrongful DeathInvestigation Underway in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Dallas
A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on East Northwest Highway at Abrams Road in Dallas early Wednesday morning, October 28, 2026. Dallas police responded to the collision at approximately 3:52 a.m. Officers found an unresponsive person in the westbound lanes of East Northwest Highway. Dallas Fire-Rescue paramedics responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Police said the driver of a black Dodge Charger stopped after the collision and is cooperating with investigators. The victim’s identity has not yet been released. What Happened in the Fatal Northwest Highway Pedestrian Crash? The collision occurred near East Northwest Highway and Abrams Road in Dallas during the early morning hours. Initial information suggested that the pedestrian may have been struck by two vehicles. Police later clarified that their investigation determined the pedestrian was struck only once. Authorities have not yet released additional information explaining how the collision occurred or where the pedestrian was immediately before impact. The investigation remains ongoing. Evidence That May Matter in a Fatal Pedestrian Crash A fatal pedestrian collision often requires investigators to reconstruct the movements of both the pedestrian and vehicle immediately before impact. Potentially important evidence may include: Traffic-camera footage Surveillance video from nearby businesses Dash-camera footage Vehicle electronic data Crash-scene photographs and measurements Witness statements Vehicle lighting and braking evidence Cellphone records when legally relevant Roadway lighting and visibility The investigating officer’s crash report Because the crash happened before sunrise, investigators may also examine visibility conditions and available lighting along Northwest Highway. Why Vehicle Speed and Visibility May Be Important Pedestrians have little physical protection when struck by a motor vehicle, making even a single impact potentially fatal. Investigators may examine the vehicle’s speed, whether the driver braked or took evasive action, when the pedestrian became visible, and whether the driver had sufficient time and distance to react. The available information does not yet establish whether any particular driver action contributed to this collision. Wrongful Death Claims After a Fatal Dallas Pedestrian Accident When a person is killed in a motor-vehicle collision, certain surviving family members may have rights under Texas wrongful-death law if another person’s negligence contributed to the death. Depending on the circumstances, potential damages may include losses involving financial support, companionship, mental anguish, and other damages permitted under Texas law. A separate survival claim may also exist depending on the evidence and circumstances surrounding the person’s death. The existence of a fatal collision alone does not establish civil liability. The evidence must first show how and why the crash occurred. How a Dallas Car Wreck Lawyer Can Investigate a Fatal Pedestrian Crash A Dallas car accident lawyer can conduct an independent investigation in addition to the work performed by police. That investigation may include obtaining available video, locating witnesses, examining vehicle data, reviewing the crash report, identifying insurance coverage, and preserving evidence before it is lost or overwritten. Wrongful DeathDriver's Excessive Speed Causes Tragic Crash in Dallas
A 22-year-old Dallas woman has been charged with two counts of manslaughter in connection with the October 6 crash on Garland Road that killed Southern Methodist University graduates Julian Harris, 23, and Madison “Madi” Duren, 22. According to arrest-affidavit details reported by WFAA, investigators allege that Aldrea Rogers was driving approximately 82 mph in a 35 mph zone shortly before the crash. Rogers had her two young children in the vehicle at the time, according to the report. Rogers was booked into the Dallas County Jail on October 16. Jail records show bond was set at $250,000 on each manslaughter charge, for a combined $500,000. These are criminal allegations. Rogers is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. What Happened in the Fatal Garland Road Crash? The crash occurred on October 6 in the 9200 block of Garland Road near Knob Oak Drive in Dallas. According to reporting based on the arrest affidavit, Harris was driving a black Toyota Prius eastbound on Knob Oak Drive. Investigators allege he stopped at the stop sign and then began turning left onto northbound Garland Road. The Prius was then struck on the driver's side by a southbound Hyundai Elantra allegedly driven by Rogers. Investigators reportedly used vehicle data, witness statements, physical damage, and area video footage in reconstructing the collision. Harris died at the scene. Duren was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, where she later died from her injuries. Police Allegedly Found the Hyundai Was Traveling About 82 MPH One of the most significant new details is the alleged speed of the Hyundai before impact. According to the affidavit information reported by WFAA, investigators recovered data indicating the Hyundai reached approximately 82 mph in an area with a 35 mph speed limit before the collision. Excessive speed can significantly affect both stopping distance and the severity of a collision. In a civil case, electronic vehicle data showing speed, braking, throttle position, and other information can become critical evidence in determining how a wreck occurred. Earlier Report of a Third Vehicle Has Been Corrected Initial reports indicated that Dallas police were investigating a possible third vehicle that had left the scene. More recent reporting states that investigators later clarified that no third vehicle was involved in the fatal collision. That correction is important because it changes the apparent sequence of events and removes the earlier suggestion that an unidentified vehicle may have contributed to the crash. Why Electronic Vehicle Data Matters in a Fatal Car Wreck In a serious collision, a vehicle's event data recorder can sometimes provide information about the seconds immediately before impact. Investigators may be able to determine: Vehicle speed Braking activity Throttle position Seat-belt use Changes in velocity Whether certain safety systems activated Here, investigators reportedly relied in part on vehicle data when determining the Hyundai's alleged pre-crash speed. This type of evidence can be especially important when witnesses provide different accounts of how a collision happened. Criminal Charges and Civil Liability Are Separate Issues Rogers now faces two manslaughter charges, but the criminal prosecution is separate from any potential civil claims arising from the deaths of Harris and Duren. A criminal case focuses on whether the state can prove the charged offenses beyond a reasonable doubt. A civil wrongful-death case involves a different burden of proof and may address compensation for surviving family members. Evidence developed in the criminal investigation—including electronic vehicle data, video footage, witness statements, and crash reconstruction findings—may also be relevant to any civil claims. Wrongful DeathFamily Mourns 17-Year-Old Killed in Burleson Crash
A 17-year-old Richland High School student and football player was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 174 in Burleson early Monday morning. The victim was identified as Katron “Kane” Walker, a junior at Richland High School who had recently moved to North Texas from Memphis. Emergency crews responded at approximately 5:16 a.m. to the 2100 block of Highway 174. Authorities said the vehicle left the roadway, entered a ditch, and struck a concrete structure. The vehicle sustained significant damage, and first responders had to extricate Walker from the wreckage. Walker was pronounced dead at the scene. What Happened in the Fatal Burleson Crash? The crash involved a single vehicle traveling on Highway 174 in Burleson. According to local reporting, the vehicle lost control, went into a ditch, and struck a concrete structure. Authorities have not publicly identified a specific cause for the vehicle leaving the roadway. Because this was a fatal collision involving a young driver, investigators may examine vehicle speed, roadway conditions, tire marks, electronic vehicle data, and other evidence to determine what occurred in the moments before the crash. Family and Richland High School Remember Katron Walker Walker had recently transferred to Richland High School after moving from Memphis and was a member of the school’s junior varsity football team. His family remembered him as an honor student and talented athlete who had quickly made an impression on his coaches and teammates. He had recently played quarterback in addition to wide receiver and was proud of his performance in a game shortly before the crash. Richland High School and Birdville ISD made counselors available to students, teammates, teachers, and others affected by his death. The district said Walker had already made a positive impact on the school despite being new to the campus. Evidence That May Help Explain a Single-Vehicle Crash A single-vehicle wreck does not necessarily mean investigators can immediately determine why the crash happened. Potentially important evidence may include: Event data recorder information from the vehicle Crash-scene photographs and measurements Tire marks and roadway evidence Vehicle steering, suspension, and tire condition Dash-camera or nearby surveillance footage Witness statements Roadway lighting and visibility Weather and pavement conditions Cellphone records when legally relevant Investigators may also determine whether another vehicle contributed to the crash without making physical contact. Can Another Party Be Responsible for a Single-Vehicle Wreck? Potentially, depending on the evidence. Although many single-vehicle crashes involve only the actions of the driver, another party could potentially be involved if evidence showed that another motorist forced the vehicle from its lane, a defective vehicle component contributed to the loss of control, or a dangerous roadway condition played a role. There is currently no public information establishing that any of those factors contributed to Walker’s crash. Families Affected by Fatal North Texas Car Wrecks The Wooley Law Firm represents people injured and families affected by serious and fatal car crashes throughout Dallas-Fort Worth and North Texas. A fatal collision may require investigation beyond the initial crash report, particularly when questions remain about why a vehicle left the roadway.
