Several people were injured after a high-speed police pursuit ended in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Walden Road in Beaumont on Monday afternoon, August 24, 2026.
According to KFDM, the pursuit began in Chambers County after multiple 911 callers reported an erratic driver on I-10. Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne told the station the driver was traveling more than 100 mph. Deputies pursued the vehicle east into Jefferson County, where additional law enforcement agencies joined the chase.
The pursuit ended at approximately 4:30 p.m. when the fleeing driver crashed into other vehicles on I-10 near Walden Road in Beaumont. Several people were injured, although authorities said the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The driver was taken into custody.
Other Drivers Injured After I-10 Pursuit in Beaumont
For motorists who were simply traveling on I-10, a vehicle allegedly traveling at more than 100 mph can create an extraordinary danger.
High-speed collisions may involve multiple impacts and substantial forces, particularly when traffic is moving at interstate speeds. Even when initial injuries are described as non-life-threatening, people involved in a serious crash may require emergency treatment and follow-up medical care.
According to the report, the incident began with multiple motorists calling 911 about the driver’s behavior before deputies began the pursuit.
Evidence After a High-Speed Multi-Vehicle Crash
A collision arising from a police pursuit may involve substantially more evidence than an ordinary two-vehicle wreck.
Potentially important evidence may include:
Police dash-camera footage
Body-camera recordings
Dispatch and 911 recordings
Dashcam footage from motorists
Traffic-camera video
Witness statements
Crash-scene photographs and measurements
Vehicle event-data recorder information
GPS or location information
Police pursuit reports
Vehicle damage and physical evidence from the scene
Preserving this evidence can be particularly important when several vehicles are involved and there are questions about the sequence of impacts.

Who May Be Responsible After a Crash Caused by a Fleeing Driver?
If evidence establishes that a driver caused a collision while fleeing police at an extremely high rate of speed, that driver’s conduct may become central to any resulting personal injury claims.
Investigators may examine the driver’s speed, lane movements, braking, prior conduct leading up to the pursuit, and the sequence of impacts with the other vehicles.
Claims involving a police pursuit can also present legal issues different from an ordinary car wreck, particularly when someone attempts to assert a claim against a governmental entity. Those issues depend heavily on the particular facts and Texas law and should be evaluated separately rather than assuming that every party involved in the pursuit bears legal responsibility.
I-10 Crashes in the Beaumont Area
Interstate 10 is a major transportation corridor through Beaumont and Southeast Texas and carries both passenger vehicles and substantial commercial traffic.
The Wooley Law Firm recently reported on an 18-wheeler crash on I-10 near 11th Street in Beaumont, another example of how quickly a serious collision can disrupt traffic on this corridor.
