A seven-vehicle crash at Parker Road and Avenue K in Plano sent three people to the hospital, including a pedestrian, on Saturday afternoon, September 5, 2026.

Plano police responded at approximately 3:15 p.m.

According to the preliminary investigation, a silver Ford Explorer was traveling east on Parker Road at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center median into the westbound lanes.

Police said the Explorer struck a pedestrian standing on the median, throwing the pedestrian into the side of another vehicle. The SUV then continued through the westbound lanes, crossed Avenue K, and struck five vehicles stopped at the intersection.

Police said seven vehicles were damaged in the crash.

Three Hospitalized After Major Plano Crash

The pedestrian, the driver of the Ford Explorer, and another driver were transported to a hospital for treatment.

Their conditions were not immediately released. Police said no other injuries were reported.

The Plano Police Traffic Unit is investigating the collision.

Because the investigation remains ongoing, the preliminary account could change as officers review vehicle data, witness statements, video, and other evidence.

Parker Road and Avenue K Closed During Crash Investigation

The serious multi-vehicle crash caused significant traffic disruptions around Parker Road and Avenue K in Plano while police investigated the scene.

The size of the crash scene was substantial because investigators were dealing with multiple damaged vehicles, a pedestrian impact, roadway debris, and several separate collision points.

A wreck involving this many vehicles may require investigators to reconstruct the entire sequence rather than focusing only on where the vehicles ultimately stopped.

What Caused the Seven-Vehicle Plano Crash?

Police have reported that the Ford Explorer crossed the center median before the collisions.

Investigators may need to determine:

  • The Explorer's speed before it crossed the median

  • Whether the driver attempted to brake

  • Whether the driver tried to steer back into the proper lanes

  • Why the SUV crossed the median

  • Where the pedestrian was standing

  • Which vehicle was struck first after the pedestrian impact

  • Whether any secondary impacts caused additional injuries

  • Whether distraction, impairment, a medical emergency, mechanical failure, or another factor contributed

Those potential causes should not be assumed until the investigation is complete.

Evidence After a Multi-Vehicle Plano Car Accident

A seven-vehicle Plano crash can involve substantial physical and electronic evidence.

Important evidence may include Plano police crash-scene photographs, traffic-camera footage, dashcam video, nearby surveillance footage, witness statements, vehicle event-data recorder information, cell phone records when relevant, damage patterns, tire marks, debris, and final vehicle positions.

The Wooley Law Firm represents people injured in Texas car accidents, including serious multi-vehicle collisions throughout Plano, Collin County, and North Texas.

Pedestrian Struck During Parker Road Crash

The pedestrian was reportedly standing on the median when the Explorer crossed into the opposing lanes and struck them.

Pedestrian injuries can be especially serious because a person has little physical protection from a moving vehicle.

Evidence concerning the SUV's speed, point of impact, roadway layout, witness accounts, and electronic vehicle data may help investigators determine exactly how the pedestrian impact occurred.

The Wooley Law Firm also represents people injured in pedestrian accidents.

Multiple Insurance Claims May Follow a Seven-Vehicle Crash

A collision involving seven vehicles may create complicated insurance issues.

Several injured drivers or passengers could be making claims against the same liability policy. Investigators must also determine whether every collision resulted from the same initial event or whether another driver's actions contributed to a later impact.

Identifying the complete sequence can therefore be important both for determining responsibility and locating all potentially available insurance coverage.
