A Pilot Point man has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter following a multi-vehicle crash in Cross Roads, Texas, that claimed the life of a 19-year-old woman.
According to the Cross Roads Police Department, officers responded to a four-vehicle collision at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 380 and U.S. Highway 377. Emergency medical personnel with the Little Elm Fire Department transported one critically injured victim to Medical City Denton, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Crystal Brianna De Luna, 19.
Police arrested Jonathan Samuel Moses, 33, of Pilot Point, on a charge of intoxication manslaughter with a motor vehicle. He also faces a charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon. As of Tuesday, he remained in the Denton County Jail with bond set at $101,000.
According to the arrest affidavit, investigators believe Moses was driving a pickup truck that crossed both the eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 380 before striking multiple vehicles and ultimately leaving the roadway.
Police reported that Moses admitted he was driving the pickup. Officers further stated that he displayed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, bloodshot and watery eyes, and an unsteady balance. According to the affidavit, Moses told officers he had consumed two margaritas at a restaurant in Denton approximately 20 minutes before the crash and was traveling toward Pilot Point.
Investigators conducted standardized field sobriety tests and reported observing sufficient clues indicating intoxication. Moses was arrested at the scene, and officers later obtained a warrant for a blood sample, which was collected at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton.
During a search of the pickup, officers reportedly discovered a handgun behind the driver's seat containing two spent shell casings, along with open alcoholic beverage containers inside the vehicle.
The arrest affidavit also states that Moses has several prior impaired-driving convictions, including a 2024 driving while intoxicated conviction in New Hampshire, driving under the influence convictions in New Hampshire in 2022 and 2018, and an operating under the influence conviction in Maine in 2018.
Several other people sustained minor injuries in the collision and were treated at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
A criminal prosecution is separate from a civil wrongful death or personal injury claim. Even if criminal charges are filed, surviving family members may have the right to pursue compensation for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, mental anguish, and the loss of companionship resulting from a preventable crash.
Cases involving suspected impaired drivers require immediate preservation of evidence. Critical evidence often includes police reports, body-camera and dash-camera footage, witness statements, toxicology and blood test results, field sobriety testing records, surveillance video, vehicle event data recorder (EDR) information, cell phone records, and accident reconstruction evidence. Prompt action can help ensure that important evidence is preserved.
