A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning, May 31, 2026, on southbound I-35W near East Ripy Street in Fort Worth. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, police said the man had gotten out of his vehicle after a minor crash and was checking the damage when another vehicle struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the suspect vehicle left the scene but was later found at a different location, and the investigation remained ongoing. Freeway crashes can become deadly within seconds when a disabled vehicle or minor wreck leaves someone exposed to fast-moving traffic. Investigators may need to determine whether the striking driver was speeding, distracted, impaired, failed to keep a proper lookout, or had enough time and distance to avoid the man. Evidence such as dashcam footage, traffic cameras, nearby surveillance video, vehicle damage, debris patterns, lighting conditions, 911 calls, witness statements, and event data recorder information may be critical in determining what happened. If you lost a loved one in a Fort Worth freeway crash, I-35W pedestrian accident, or fatal hit-and-run collision, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, mental anguish, lost financial support, and other damages. Tragic House Fire in Fort Worth Leaves One Dead
One person died and at least three others were injured, including two firefighters, after an early morning house fire in Fort Worth on Thursday. Fort Worth firefighters responded around 2:45 a.m. to a home on Avenue J near Little Street, southeast of downtown. Heavy flames were reportedly coming from the front of the house when crews arrived. Firefighters removed two people from the home. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported by helicopter to a hospital. At least two firefighters were also injured while battling the fire. Fort Worth Fire Department officials said items stacked near doors and windows created barriers that made the rescue and firefighting efforts more difficult. The names of the victims and injured firefighters have not been released. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A fatal house fire should be investigated carefully.
