Two adults were seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in south Fort Worth early Saturday morning, September 19, 2026.

Fort Worth Police said officers responded shortly after 12:30 a.m. to the 5700 block of Crowley Road for a reported hit-and-run. Officers found two adults who had been struck by a vehicle. Both were transported to a hospital in serious condition.

Police identified the driver as 22-year-old Yoriel Cabrera. Cabrera has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury.

Those charges are allegations. Cabrera has not been convicted and is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Police Say Driver Tried to Leave the Scene

According to Fort Worth Police, Cabrera attempted to leave after the collision but was detained by another person before officers arrived.

Police spokesperson Bradley Perez said Cabrera also had injuries, but Cabrera reportedly told officers those injuries resulted from an earlier incident involving people he had been playing pool with.

Authorities had not publicly released a complete account explaining the events leading up to the vehicle striking the two victims.

Two Adults Hospitalized With Serious Injuries

Police said both people struck by the vehicle suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital.

One of the injured victims has previously been identified in local reporting as Tiffany Chapman, who described suffering significant injuries, including broken legs, a collapsed lung, and a broken rib.

The publicly available reports did not provide the same level of medical detail concerning the second injured person.

What Evidence May Matter in the Investigation?

Because police have alleged intoxication and aggravated assault, investigators may examine more than the mechanics of an ordinary pedestrian collision.

Potentially important evidence may include:

  • surveillance footage from nearby businesses;

  • cell phone video;

  • police body-camera footage;

  • 911 recordings;

  • witness statements;

  • toxicology evidence;

  • vehicle event-data recorder information;

  • photographs and measurements from the scene;

  • damage to the vehicle;

  • statements made by the driver and witnesses; and

  • records showing what occurred before the collision.

Video evidence may be especially important in determining where the victims and vehicle were located, how the vehicle was being operated, and what happened immediately before impact.

Criminal Charges and Civil Injury Claims Are Separate

The criminal charges filed against Cabrera are separate from any civil personal injury claims arising from the incident.

A criminal prosecution focuses on whether prosecutors can prove a charged offense beyond a reasonable doubt.

A civil injury claim focuses on whether another person's conduct caused injuries and damages. Depending on the facts, recoverable damages in a serious pedestrian case may include medical expenses, lost income, physical impairment, disfigurement, pain, and other losses recognized under Texas law.

A criminal conviction is not necessarily required before an injured person can pursue a civil claim.

Serious Pedestrian Injuries Can Occur Outside a Traditional Roadway

Pedestrian crashes are not limited to crosswalks and highways.

Parking lots, business entrances, and commercial areas can also create serious risks when a vehicle strikes someone on foot. Pedestrians have no seat belt, airbag, or vehicle structure to absorb the force of impact.

Major Crash on Northbound US 75 at Plano Parkway Closes HOV Lane and Two Left Lanes

A major collision on northbound US 75 at Plano Parkway was confirmed at approximately 6:30 a.m. Saturday. The HOV lane and two left general-purpose lanes were closed, with the two right general-purpose lanes remaining open at the time of the report. The initial information did not identify the vehicles involved, confirm injuries, or explain what caused the collision. A reopening time was not available. Injured in a US 75 Collision in Plano? For someone injured in a similar highway wreck, medical treatment, vehicle repairs, missed work, and insurance questions can become immediate concerns. A Dallas car wreck lawyer handling cases in Plano can review how the collision occurred, identify relevant evidence, and evaluate potentially applicable insurance coverage. The extent of a lane closure alone does not establish fault or injury severity. Depending on the circumstances, an investigation may examine: Dashcam footage showing vehicle movements before impact. Witness accounts describing the sequence of events. Scene photographs documenting vehicle positions, damage, debris, and roadway markings. Crash reports and available vehicle data that may help explain the collision. These are general investigative considerations. The available information does not establish any contributing factor in the November 7 wreck. Preserve Evidence Before Repairs or Recordings Are Lost Anyone involved should retain original photographs, video files, witness contact information, and insurance correspondence. Save complete dashcam recordings promptly because continued recording may overwrite relevant footage. Keep towing receipts, repair estimates, and photographs taken before repairs. If injuries occurred, medical records, bills, work restrictions, and documentation of missed work can help explain the collision’s effects. You do not need every record before consulting an attorney. An initial review can help identify missing information and evidence that should be requested. Multi-Vehicle Wreck Closes Eastbound I-20 Ramp to Northbound US 67 - Car Accidents
Car Accidents

Multi-Vehicle Wreck Closes Eastbound I-20 Ramp to Northbound US 67

A multi-vehicle wreck closed the eastbound Interstate 20 ramp to northbound US 67 at approximately 8:20 a.m. Friday. The reported closure affected the connecting ramp. The initial information did not specify the number or types of vehicles involved, confirm injuries, or provide a reopening estimate. The cause of the collision was not available. Attorney Perspective: Understanding a Multi-Vehicle Ramp Collision When several vehicles are involved in a wreck, determining the sequence of impacts can be important. Investigators may need to establish where each vehicle was traveling, when drivers began braking, and whether an initial impact led to additional collisions. A Dallas car wreck lawyer reviewing the circumstances may examine: Dashcam recordings showing traffic movements before the first impact. Photographs of each vehicle’s damage to help distinguish separate impacts. Witness statements describing the sequence of events. Scene evidence and crash records documenting vehicle positions, debris, and roadway conditions. These are general investigative considerations. The available information does not establish how this wreck happened or which driver, if any, was responsible. Preserving Evidence After a Wreck Involving Several Vehicles Anyone involved should save original photographs, recordings, witness contact information, and insurance correspondence. When safely available, photographs showing all involved vehicles and their positions can provide context beyond close-up damage images. Keep towing receipts, repair estimates, and photographs taken before repairs. If injuries occurred, medical records, bills, and documentation of missed work may help establish the collision’s effects. An attorney can review these materials, identify missing evidence, and evaluate the insurance coverage potentially applicable to each vehicle. Major Wreck on Southbound I-35E at FM 329 Prompts Traffic Diversion

A major wreck was reported on southbound Interstate 35E at FM 329 at approximately 10:30 a.m. Friday, with traffic being diverted from the affected area. The initial information did not identify the diversion route, specify which lanes were closed, or provide a reopening estimate. The number and types of vehicles involved, possible injuries, and the cause of the collision were not available. Attorney Perspective: Investigating an I-35E Collision A traffic diversion indicates a disruption to travel, but it does not establish the severity of anyone’s injuries or explain how the wreck happened. Determining responsibility requires evidence about the events before impact. An attorney reviewing a highway collision may examine: Dashcam recordings showing vehicle movements and surrounding traffic. Witness accounts describing the moments before the collision. Scene photographs documenting damage, debris, roadway markings, and vehicle positions. Crash reports and available vehicle data that may help establish the sequence of events. These are general investigative considerations. The available information does not establish any contributing factor in the November 6 wreck.
