A North Richland Hills family was traveling toward South Padre Island when a wrong-way driver crashed into their car on State Highway 121/Airport Freeway in Fort Worth, killing a mother and grandmother and seriously injuring an 11-year-old girl. The crash occurred shortly after 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, near North Riverside Drive. Fort Worth police said a Jeep was traveling east in the westbound lanes of SH 121. Before the fatal collision, the Jeep struck another occupied vehicle whose driver had tried to avoid it. No major injuries were reported in that first crash. The Jeep continued against traffic before colliding head-on with the family’s sedan. The Jeep driver died at the scene. Two women in the sedan, described by family friends as the child’s mother and grandmother, were also killed.
