A mother and daughter were involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash near North Riverfront Boulevard and Howell Street in Dallas on Tuesday afternoon, according to Dallas officials.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded at approximately 4:31 p.m. on August 18, 2026, after a vehicle left its path and struck a utility pole. The impact caused the vehicle to roll over.

The daughter was transported to a Dallas-area hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening. WFAA also reported that a DART structure at the location was struck during the crash. Officials had not released additional information explaining what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

What Could Cause a Vehicle to Leave the Road and Roll Over?

A single-vehicle rollover does not necessarily explain itself. Investigators may need to determine what happened in the moments before the vehicle struck the utility pole.

Potential evidence could include vehicle event data, nearby surveillance footage, witness statements, tire marks, roadway conditions, vehicle damage, steering and braking information, and the condition of the tires or other mechanical components.

Investigators may also examine whether another vehicle contributed to the driver's movement even if that vehicle never made physical contact.

At this stage, however, authorities have not publicly identified another vehicle or announced a cause for this Dallas crash.

Serious Passenger Injuries May Raise Separate Insurance Questions

The daughter reportedly suffered the most significant injuries in the wreck. Because passengers generally do not control how a vehicle is operated, an injured passenger's legal and insurance options may differ from those of the driver.

Depending on the facts, available coverage could include liability insurance on the involved vehicle and potentially other insurance if another person or vehicle is ultimately found to have contributed.

The Wooley Law Firm's Dallas car accident lawyer resource discusses serious Dallas crashes, evidence preservation, and compensation that may be available when negligence causes an injury. The firm's page confirms its current Dallas car-accident practice and consultation information.

Utility Pole and Rollover Evidence Should Be Preserved

The collision with the utility pole may provide investigators with physical evidence about the vehicle's direction, speed, and angle immediately before the rollover.

The Wooley Law Firm has previously covered a separate Dallas-area rollover crash involving a vehicle striking a pole. That unrelated incident involved different circumstances, but it illustrates why vehicle data, roadway evidence, and the precise sequence before impact can matter after a serious rollover.

Injured in a Dallas Rollover Accident?

A rollover can cause significant injuries even when the people involved survive. Medical needs, lost income, physical impairment, pain, and other consequences may continue well after the initial emergency response.

If you were injured in a Dallas car accident, Riverfront Boulevard crash, Howell Street wreck, rollover accident, or other serious vehicle collision, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, mental anguish, impairment, and other damages if the evidence establishes legal responsibility.

Major I-20 Wreck in Talty Shuts Down Westbound Lanes

A major crash was reported on westbound I-20 at FM 1641 in Talty, Texas, at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. According to the traffic information provided, all westbound lanes were closed as emergency crews responded to the scene. Early information did not confirm how many vehicles were involved, whether anyone was injured, or what caused the collision. Drivers traveling through Talty and western Kaufman County should expect significant delays and seek an alternate route until the interstate reopens. All-Lane Closure Suggests a Significant Emergency Response When every lane of an interstate is shut down, traffic can back up rapidly and create additional hazards well beyond the original crash scene. Motorists approaching the closure may encounter stopped traffic, sudden lane changes, emergency vehicles, and drivers attempting to exit the freeway or divert onto nearby roads. The cause of Wednesday morning’s collision has not been established, so it would be premature to attribute the wreck to speeding, distraction, an unsafe lane change, or any other particular factor. The Wooley Law Firm recently reported on a separate major crash near FM 1641 in Talty on August 15. That unrelated wreck occurred near FM 1641 and FM 148 and prompted a significant emergency response. I-20 Crashes in Kaufman County Can Require Extensive Investigation If serious injuries are confirmed, potentially important evidence may include traffic-camera footage, dashcams, nearby surveillance video, witness statements, vehicle event data, crash-scene photographs, and police or EMS records. Kaufman County has also experienced several serious multi-vehicle collisions on I-20. In June 2026, a separate westbound I-20 pileup involved numerous passenger vehicles and commercial trucks and sent multiple people to hospitals. Each crash must be evaluated based on its own evidence, and the severity of a traffic closure alone does not establish how badly anyone was hurt. Injured in an I-20 Crash in Talty? If you were injured in a Talty car accident, I-20 crash, FM 1641 wreck, Kaufman County collision, or multiple-vehicle accident, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, mental anguish, impairment, vehicle damage, and other losses if the evidence establishes legal responsibility. I-20 Crash Near Bonnie View Road The Wooley Law Firm has previously covered another major I-20 crash near Bonnie View Road. That earlier collision involved different circumstances, but it provides a useful location-specific resource for crashes along this stretch of I-20. A two-lane closure during morning traffic can also create secondary hazards as motorists brake suddenly or attempt to merge around the crash scene.
