Two people were killed and another person was critically injured after an overnight wrong-way crash on southbound Central Expressway in North Dallas on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

According to FOX 4, several drivers called 911 to report a wrong-way driver traveling north in the southbound lanes of U.S. 75. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded around 1:30 a.m. just north of Royal Lane, where a sedan and an SUV had collided head-on. Firefighters had to extricate at least one person from the wreckage. The wrong-way driver died at the scene, and two people in the SUV were taken to the hospital, where the passenger later died. The SUV driver remained in critical condition.

Wrong-way crashes are often catastrophic because they can involve head-on impacts at highway speeds. Investigators may need to determine how the wrong-way driver entered Central Expressway, whether impairment, fatigue, distraction, poor lighting, missing signage, confusing ramps, roadway design, or another factor contributed to the crash, and whether other drivers had time to react. Evidence such as 911 calls, dashcam footage, traffic cameras, crash scene measurements, vehicle damage, toxicology results, witness statements, and event data recorder information may be critical in determining what happened.

If you were injured in a Dallas wrong-way crash, Central Expressway collision, U.S. 75 wreck, or serious head-on accident near Royal Lane, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, mental anguish, impairment, and other damages. If you lost a loved one, your family may also have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim.
