A 79-year-old woman died after a single-vehicle crash on New York Avenue in Arlington late Sunday morning. According to the Arlington Police Department, officers responded around 11:03 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, to the 2600 block of New York Avenue. Investigators said a 2019 Cadillac CT5 traveling northbound left the roadway and struck a tree in the median. The 79-year-old passenger was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The 66-year-old driver was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the driver reported that another vehicle unexpectedly entered her lane, causing her to take evasive action to avoid a collision. The Cadillac then left the roadway and struck the tree. Authorities have not identified the other vehicle, and the Arlington Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
