According to crash data from the TxDOT CRIS Query, Tarrant County roads remained dangerous during the first three months of 2026. From January 1 through March 31, 2026, Tarrant County recorded 7,886 total crashes, compared to 7,605 crashes during the same period in 2025.
That means Tarrant County saw 281 more crashes in the first quarter of 2026, a year-over-year increase of approximately 3.7%.
For drivers, passengers, families, and injury victims, these numbers are more than statistics. Every wreck represents someone who may be dealing with medical bills, vehicle damage, missed work, pain, uncertainty, and pressure from an insurance company that wants to pay as little as possible.
At The Wooley Law Firm, we represent people injured in serious car wrecks, truck wrecks, and commercial vehicle crashes throughout Tarrant County. Our job is to investigate what happened, identify every available insurance policy and responsible party, and fight for the maximum compensation available under Texas law.
Tarrant County Crashes Increased From 2025 to 2026
The crash data shows several important trends from the first quarter of 2025 to the first quarter of 2026.
Tarrant County had 7,605 crashes in the first quarter of 2025 and 7,886 crashes in the first quarter of 2026. That is an increase of 281 crashes, or approximately 3.7%.
Commercial motor vehicle crashes decreased slightly. Tarrant County had 566 commercial motor vehicle crashes in the first quarter of 2025 and 544 in the first quarter of 2026. That is a decrease of 22 commercial vehicle crashes, or approximately 3.9%.
Traffic fatalities also decreased slightly. There were 48 total fatalities in Tarrant County crashes during the first quarter of 2025 and 46 fatalities during the same period in 2026. That is a decrease of 2 fatalities, or approximately 4.2%.
However, the injury numbers moved in the opposite direction. Tarrant County had 3,642 total injuries in crashes during the first quarter of 2025. In the first quarter of 2026, that number increased to 3,867 total injuries. That is 225 more people injured, or approximately a 6.2% increase.
Suspected serious injuries decreased slightly, from 246 suspected serious injuries in Q1 2025 to 234 suspected serious injuries in Q1 2026. That is a decrease of 12 suspected serious injuries, or approximately 4.9%.
The most important takeaway is that Tarrant County had more crashes and more injuries in early 2026. Even though fatalities and suspected serious injuries decreased slightly, thousands of people were still hurt on Tarrant County roads in just three months.
Tarrant County Injuries Increased Faster Than Total Crashes
One of the most concerning trends in the data is that injuries increased faster than total crashes.
Total crashes increased by approximately 3.7%, but total injuries increased by approximately 6.2%. In other words, Tarrant County did not just see more wrecks. It saw more people getting hurt.
An injury crash is not just a police report or an insurance claim. It can mean ambulance transportation, emergency room treatment, follow-up appointments, physical therapy, injections, surgery, pain medication, missed work, lost earning capacity, anxiety, depression, and long-term disruption to a person’s life.
Some injuries are obvious immediately after a crash. Others may develop or worsen over time. Neck injuries, back injuries, concussions, radiating pain, numbness, tingling, and soft tissue injuries may not be fully understood at the crash scene. That is why it is important to get medical care, follow treatment recommendations, and speak with an experienced Tarrant County car and truck wreck lawyer before accepting an insurance settlement.
Insurance companies often try to settle injury claims quickly before the full cost of medical treatment, future care, lost income, pain and suffering, impairment, and long-term damages is known. At The Wooley Law Firm, we focus on proving the full impact of a crash so our clients can pursue the maximum compensation available.
Commercial Vehicle Wrecks Still Caused Serious Harm in Tarrant County
Commercial motor vehicle crashes decreased slightly in Tarrant County during the first quarter of 2026, but they still caused serious harm.
According to crash data from the TxDOT CRIS Query, Tarrant County had 566 commercial motor vehicle crashes from January 1 through March 31, 2025. Those wrecks caused 7 deaths and 244 injuries.
During the same period in 2026, Tarrant County had 544 commercial motor vehicle crashes. Those wrecks caused 6 deaths and 176 injuries.
That means commercial motor vehicle crashes decreased by 22 wrecks, CMV-related deaths decreased by 1, and CMV-related injuries decreased by 68 year over year.
Even with those decreases, the numbers remain serious. In just three months, commercial vehicle wrecks in Tarrant County caused 6 deaths and 176 injuries.
A crash involving an 18-wheeler, delivery truck, box truck, company vehicle, construction vehicle, or other commercial motor vehicle can cause devastating injuries because of the size, weight, and force involved. A fully loaded commercial truck can cause far more damage than a passenger vehicle, especially in highway collisions, rear-end crashes, underride crashes, jackknife wrecks, and multi-vehicle pileups. If you were injured in a commercial truck crash, learn more about how a Fort Worth truck accident lawyer can help protect your rights.
Commercial vehicle cases are often more complex than ordinary car accident claims. A serious truck wreck may involve the commercial driver, the trucking company, an employer, a maintenance company, a vehicle owner, a broker or shipper, and multiple insurance carriers. Important evidence may include driver logs, black box data, dash camera footage, maintenance records, inspection records, cell phone records, and company safety policies.
These cases require quick action. Evidence can disappear, vehicles can be repaired, electronic data can be overwritten, and witnesses can become harder to locate. The insurance company may have investigators working immediately after a serious truck wreck. Injured victims should have someone working just as quickly to protect their rights.
The Wooley Law Firm can investigate the crash, preserve evidence, identify all responsible parties, and fight to recover the most compensation available.

Tarrant County Traffic Deaths Remained High
Although total fatalities decreased slightly from 2025 to 2026, the numbers remain devastating.
Tarrant County recorded 48 total fatalities during the first quarter of 2025 and 46 total fatalities during the first quarter of 2026. Forty-six people losing their lives in Tarrant County crashes in just three months shows how serious car wrecks, truck wrecks, motorcycle crashes, pedestrian accidents, and commercial vehicle collisions can be.
For families who lose a loved one in a crash, the consequences are permanent. A fatal car or truck wreck may give rise to a wrongful death claim for damages such as mental anguish, loss of companionship, lost financial support, funeral expenses, and other losses recognized under Texas law.
In fatal crash cases, it is critical to act quickly so evidence can be preserved, witnesses can be identified, and every responsible party can be held accountable. A wrongful death case may involve a negligent driver, trucking company, employer, vehicle owner, maintenance provider, or another responsible party.
Families dealing with the loss of a loved one should not have to face the insurance company alone. The Wooley Law Firm can help families pursue accountability and compensation after a fatal Tarrant County car or truck wreck.
Fort Worth Had the Most Crashes in Tarrant County
The city-level data shows that Tarrant County crashes were heavily concentrated in Fort Worth and Arlington during both the first quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026.
According to crash data from the TxDOT CRIS Query, Fort Worth had 3,750 crashes from January 1 through March 31, 2025. During the same period in 2026, Fort Worth had 4,054 crashes. That is an increase of 304 crashes, or approximately 8.1% year over year.
Fort Worth alone accounted for approximately 51.4% of all Tarrant County crashes in the first quarter of 2026.
Arlington had the second-highest number of crashes in both years. Arlington had 1,280 crashes in Q1 2025 and 1,199 crashes in Q1 2026. That is a decrease of 81 crashes, but Arlington still accounted for more than 1,100 wrecks in just three months.
Together, Fort Worth and Arlington accounted for 5,030 crashes in Q1 2025 and 5,253 crashes in Q1 2026. That means the two largest crash cities in Tarrant County saw a combined increase of 223 crashes year over year.
Other Tarrant County cities with significant crash numbers in early 2026 included Mansfield with 238 crashes, Grand Prairie with 203, North Richland Hills with 190, Grapevine with 173, Forest Hill with 172, Haltom City with 164, Euless with 162, and Bedford with 147.
Several Tarrant County cities saw increases from Q1 2025 to Q1 2026. Fort Worth increased by 304 crashes, Forest Hill increased by 39 crashes, Mansfield increased by 12 crashes, Benbrook increased by 11 crashes, North Richland Hills increased by 8 crashes, outside city limits increased by 7 crashes, Crowley increased by 6 crashes, Haltom City increased by 5 crashes, and Lake Worth increased by 3 crashes.
Other cities saw decreases. Arlington decreased by 81 crashes, Bedford decreased by 35 crashes, Hurst decreased by 29 crashes, Grand Prairie decreased by 15 crashes, Grapevine decreased by 10 crashes, Euless decreased by 5 crashes, Saginaw decreased by 5 crashes, Burleson decreased by 4 crashes, Azle decreased by 4 crashes, Southlake decreased by 3 crashes, and Keller decreased by 3 crashes.
Even where crash totals decreased, the numbers remain serious. Arlington, Mansfield, Grand Prairie, North Richland Hills, Grapevine, Forest Hill, Haltom City, Euless, and Bedford all recorded significant numbers of wrecks in early 2026.
For injured drivers and passengers, city-level crash data matters because the location of the wreck can affect the investigation. A crash in Fort Worth, Arlington, Mansfield, Grand Prairie, North Richland Hills, Grapevine, Euless, Bedford, Forest Hill, or another Tarrant County city may involve different police departments, crash reports, witnesses, traffic cameras, roadway conditions, commercial vehicle routes, and insurance issues.
A serious wreck should be investigated quickly. An experienced Tarrant County car and truck wreck lawyer can obtain the crash report, identify witnesses, preserve evidence, review available video, determine all responsible parties, and fight for the full compensation the injured person deserves.
Tarrant County Roads With the Most Wrecks
The roadway data shows that Tarrant County crashes were heavily concentrated on major highways, interstates, and commuter corridors. According to crash data from the TxDOT CRIS Query, IH-35W had the most reported crashes of any listed Tarrant County roadway in both the first quarter of 2025 and the first quarter of 2026.
From January 1 through March 31, 2025, IH-35W had 520 crashes. During the same period in 2026, IH-35W had 566 crashes. That is an increase of 46 crashes, or approximately 8.8% year over year.
Other major Tarrant County roadways also had high crash totals in early 2026, including IH-820 with 438 crashes, IH-20 with 425 crashes, IH-30 with 346 crashes, US-287 with 332 crashes, SH-360 with 269 crashes, and SH-183 with 266 crashes.
Several roadways saw increases from Q1 2025 to Q1 2026. IH-35W increased by 46 crashes, US-377 increased by 20 crashes, IH-820 increased by 11 crashes, SH-114 increased by 9 crashes, SH-199 increased by 8 crashes, and IH-20 increased by 1 crash.
Other Tarrant County roadways saw decreases. SH-183 decreased by 55 crashes, FM-157 decreased by 35 crashes, SH-121 decreased by 28 crashes, SH-360 decreased by 25 crashes, IH-30 decreased by 24 crashes, and SH-180 decreased by 3 crashes. US-287 remained unchanged, with 332 crashes in both Q1 2025 and Q1 2026.
Even where crashes decreased, the numbers remain serious. In just three months, Tarrant County recorded hundreds of crashes on IH-35W, IH-820, IH-20, IH-30, US-287, SH-360, SH-183, and SH-121.
These roadway numbers matter because crashes on major Tarrant County roads often involve higher speeds, heavy commuter traffic, commercial vehicles, 18-wheelers, construction traffic, delivery vehicles, and multiple lanes of travel. A crash on IH-35W, IH-820, IH-20, IH-30, US-287, SH-360, SH-183, SH-121, or another major corridor can quickly become serious.
Highway wrecks can also be harder to investigate. There may be multiple vehicles involved, disputed fault, limited witnesses, dash camera footage, traffic camera footage, commercial vehicle evidence, and insurance companies trying to shift blame.
An experienced Tarrant County car and truck wreck lawyer can move quickly to obtain the crash report, preserve evidence, identify all responsible parties, and fight for the maximum compensation available.
Why Highway and Truck Wreck Claims Are Different
A wreck on a major Tarrant County highway is often more complicated than a low-speed parking lot collision or minor city street accident. Highway crashes may involve higher speeds, multiple vehicles, lane changes, merging disputes, commercial trucks, unclear liability, severe injuries, and significant insurance coverage.
Truck wrecks and commercial vehicle crashes can be even more complex. The trucking company may control key evidence. The driver may have logs, electronic data, maintenance records, inspection records, and safety history that must be preserved before it disappears.
Commercial vehicle claims may also involve larger insurance policies and multiple defendants. That can create more opportunity for compensation, but it also means the insurance company may fight harder. The trucking company may deny fault. The driver may blame another motorist. Multiple insurers may point fingers at each other. An experienced truck wreck lawyer can sort through those issues and pursue all available coverage.
That is why injured victims should be careful before giving recorded statements, signing insurance documents, or accepting a quick settlement. The first offer is rarely designed to reflect the full value of the claim. It is often designed to close the case cheaply.
A strong injury claim may include compensation for emergency medical treatment, hospital bills, surgery, physical therapy, future medical care, lost wages, loss of earning capacity, pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, disfigurement, loss of enjoyment of life, property damage, and wrongful death damages when applicable.
The goal is not just to prove that a crash happened. The goal is to prove the full impact of the crash and pursue the maximum compensation available.
How The Wooley Law Firm Helps After a Tarrant County Car or Truck Wreck
After a serious wreck, the insurance company starts protecting its own interests immediately. Injured victims should do the same.
The Wooley Law Firm can help by investigating the crash, obtaining the police report, identifying witnesses, preserving evidence, reviewing medical records, calculating damages, negotiating with the insurance company, and filing a lawsuit when necessary.
In car wreck and truck wreck cases, compensation may depend on proving both liability and damages. Liability means proving who caused the crash. Damages means proving how badly the crash affected the injured person’s life. Both parts matter.
A serious injury case should account for more than the bills that have already arrived. It should also consider future medical treatment, future lost income, long-term pain, permanent impairment, emotional distress, and how the injuries affect the person’s ability to work, care for family, and enjoy life.
At The Wooley Law Firm, the goal is to build the strongest claim possible and fight for the most compensation available.
Injured in a Tarrant County Car or Truck Wreck?
The data is clear: Tarrant County continues to see thousands of crashes, thousands of injuries, and dozens of traffic deaths in just the first three months of the year. Crashes increased from early 2025 to early 2026, injuries increased even faster, and commercial motor vehicle wrecks remained a serious threat on Tarrant County roads.
If you were injured in a Fort Worth car accident, Arlington truck wreck, Tarrant County commercial vehicle crash, or highway collision on IH-35W, IH-820, IH-20, IH-30, US-287, SH-360, SH-183, SH-121, FM-157, US-377, SH-199, or another dangerous roadway, you may have the right to seek justice and pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, mental anguish, impairment, and other damages. For truck and 18-wheeler cases, speak with an experienced Fort Worth truck accident lawyer as soon as possible.
